Who should pay for the airplane ticket?

I want to invite a special friend to come to my friend's son's wedding with me but he would have to get on a plane to do so. Should I offer to pay for his plane ticket? He will be staying with me and therefore will not have any hotel expenses. We are both about equally financially; he might be a bit better off.

Hello Adriana,

When you extend the invitation, it is appropriate to ask if the plane journey is acceptable with him. I do not see a reason for your paying his way if he elects to join you for the wedding. Surely hosting his stay is a fine contribution to his trip.
