Who invited whom? Where is the lunch being held? The family who initiated the invitation should pay for everyone. If the location of the luncheon requires extraordinary travel for either party, then the non traveling party should pay, etc. Look upon this with a practical mind and do what seems the most sensible. This is a momentous occasion!
