Wedding Question

by Chris

my sister is divorced and her son is getting married on the west coast where his father also lives. the family(4 members) are traveling from the east coast for the wedding arriving 4 days before the event. we are not being invited to the rehearsal dinner possibly because my sister is not contributing to the cost of the dinner. do you think that is appropriate that we are not included but the relatives of my former brother-in-law are?

Family Celebrations

Dear Chris,

Sometimes the term appropriate does not apply to a blended family situation as much as the term common sense does. Unfortunately, sometimes family celebrations bring on excessive stress and poor decisions are made. Your sister seems to have made her guest list for the rehearsal dinner and you were not included. You can ask her about it in a calm discussion or you can accept her obvious choice of dinner guests.

Remember the central theme is supporting your nephew, which may mean not doing it the way you wish. I do hope you have an enjoyable time.
