No Thank You note yet for wedding gift ...

by Elaine
(California)

I attended a wedding on 4/6/13 and as of today's date - 10/1/13 - we have not yet received a thank you note.

We were invited to the wedding because we have known the bride's parents for over 35 years.

We were wondering if our gift got lost, got trashed somehow at the gift table and they don't know who gave them this gift.

Do we let this thank you note go?
Should I perhaps write the bride's Mother since we know her and explain the situation?

Thank you for your assistance.

Newlywed Thank You Notes
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Elaine,

While we know how frustrating it can be to send a gift without a confirmation of receipt, keep in mind that the newlyweds have up to one year to reply with their thank you note.

If you feel compelled to write to the mother of the bride after that year mark, do so as politely and kindly as possible. This can be a very sensitive situation.

Good luck.
