Half Siblings

I have 3 grandkids and my son who is the father doesn't see why I buy presents for the kids half brother who his ex wife had with her new husband. I get along with her new family and she has two of my grandkids living with her and is due with twins soon. I think that I should give them a small gift at Christmas and Birthdays. What do you think?

What you are doing is acceptable and preferable within the blended family. I understand your son's feelings. Perhaps he thinks you are "taking sides", but it is this type of reaction that can keep families separated and divided. How lovely that you and the mother of your grandchildren get on so well. Over time, your son may object less and admire his mother more.
