Gift or No Gift

I received a formal announcement from friends that their daughter was married one March 30th this year in a private ceremony out of town. It closes with their residence address.

Should a gift/congratulation card be sent to the residence address or respond to our friends only?

This is an interesting question. A card to the bride and groom is appropriate and the right thing to do. At the same time, send a personal note to your friends to acknowledge the announcement of their daughter's wedding.
