Expressions of Sympathy

Flowers, as a token of sympathy, are usually sent to the immediate family of the deceased. If the co-worker's relationship with the daughter-in-law was more of a father and daughter one, flowers might be appropriate. However, one can express sympathy with a personal note or card as well.

This may be the proper action to take under these circumstances.
