Is it proper for a new supervisor to give her cell# and home# to male employees married or single? I wouldn't!

Policy Manual

Do you have a policy manual at your company? In most businesses, this is addressed in the policy and procedures set down by the company. The manual is prepared to avoid liability and sexual harassment issues.

I doubt it is universally acceptable for supervisors to give their home phone numbers to employees, whether they are of opposite sex or not. Of course, there are always exceptions.

Regarding whether this is proper or not I ask, by whose standards? This is where the policy manual enters into play. Follow the company directed procedures if available. If not, it is proper to use good judgement and practical, common sense to answer this question.
