Is it appropriate to throw a baby shower for her when my friends have not met her?

Dear Mary~

I do not think the question should be about appropriateness. This is more of a comfort level question. How does your step daughter in law feel about inviting strangers bearing gifts to her shower? Can you also invite her friends? Or can you participate in a shower given by someone who knows her well?


The cardinal rule of manners is that whatever you do, all participants are comfortable with the situation. Try speaking with the bride to be. Ask her what she would like to do and then make your decision.
